The Wall street Journal is reporting that Apple is in early discussions with fashionable location-based app Foursquare for an information-sharing deal. Apple SVP Eddy Cue is reportedly involved with the negotiations as he tries to reinforce a Maps app that has failed to live up to Apple’s expectations.
Apple Inc. is in early discussions to combine native knowledge from Foursquare Labs Inc. into its mapping software, according to individuals conversant in the talks, as the corporate continues to build an arsenal of local information to check out to tackle Google Inc.
Foursquare’s information includes native businesses like eating places, bars and more and even lets in users to depart tips on businesses for future visitors. The Wall street Journal notes that Apple could possibly use that information in its Maps app as neatly.
