Two months have flown by since word of Apple’s acquisition of Beats Electronics first surfaced, but only now has the Cupertino company gotten around to adding the brand’s Beats Music app to the App Store’s “Made by Apple” list.
Part of the delay may have had something to do with Apple’s stated intentions to keep the two brands separate. That persists even now, as clicking on the app reveals that it was developed by “Beats Music, LLC” rather than the iPhone maker itself.

Still, Apple has already played a significant role in the service’s success. In the wake of the acquisition, the service now commands the 4th most popular slot for Music apps and the 41st slot for top grossing titles. Not interested in playing the service’s $9.99 per month ($99 per year) subscription fee? You might be happy to know that it also sits firmly at the 21st most popular spot for free apps.
Those numbers should only start rising now that Apple is promoting the service so prominently and associating it with the Apple name. If you’re interested in trying the popular streaming music service out for yourself, you can get a free week of unlimited use or, if you’re an AT&T customer, up to three months of access to its library of around 20 million songs.
Just in case you missed out, Apple acquired the company back in May for $3 billion, which represents the Cupertino company’s largest acquisition of another tech company to date.
