drcagn writes “Ars Technica reviews that Apple’s new 1.1.three firmware replace unbricks iPhones broken from unlocking and updating the firmware months ago. In September, customers who hacked their iPhone’s firmware to release it found their iPhone bricked after they updated to new firmware, developing a massive upset and web furor. even if Apple claimed this used to be no longer an intended effect of the replace, it held the stance that it isn’t their responsibility to make sure that updates work with customers’ warranty-voiding hacks, and plenty of cried foul. This replace, which gives new features Jobs showed off at Macworld, whereas no longer formally unbricking the iPhone, has restored iPhones from Gizmodo and a reader of the Unofficial Apple weblog.”
